All three of Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour shows in Vienna have been canceled owing to an alleged terror plot, according to NBC News. On Wednesday, Austrian police said in a news conference that they had arrested two men in connection with a planned attack targeting major events in the city, including Swift’s tour stops. Later in the day, concert organizer Barracuda Music released a statement via Instagram, announcing that all fans would be automatically refunded for the pop star’s shows: “With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.” Swift has not yet commented on the cancellations, nor the thwarted attack.
Per NBC, Vienna’s state police director Franz Ruf and police chief Gerhard Purstl confirmed that they had taken two men into custody Wednesday, including a 19-year-old allegedly connected to ISIS. The two suspects reportedly made online plans to attack Swift’s three-night residency, and authorities later found “various chemical substances” during a raid of the 19-year-old’s home. Police could not yet confirm whether the men were working to build a bomb.
Swift had been scheduled to perform in Vienna on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as she rounds out the international leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour. Following the now-canceled Austrian dates, she was set to end the European portion of the tour with five shows at London’s Wembley Stadium next week. Swift’s website now reflects her updated schedule, with the note accompanying the Vienna dates: “*All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.”
